Hello everyone and today I am pitching my idea for a new
radio show , the title of my radio show will be called the Lulu Breakfast show
as in the name of the radio show I have decided to do a breakfast show, this
will be on 7:30 am to 9 am everyday with 2 hosts me myself Steven Luu and my
co-host Julian Scott how this would work is that I will do the week days so
Monday – Friday and my co-host Julian Scott will be doing weekends Saturday and
Sunday the station I want to be with and pitch my idea for is Capital FM as
they are the ‘The UK’s No.1 Hit Music Station’ which also means they have got a
good amount of listener ship already to begin with.
The aim of my radio show is
to bring in more listener ship such as the younger audience as well as the older
listeners and it’s a new radio station which also means
more advertising which brings in more money, main aim is to encourage new
listeners to tune in, bring in different audience in different age groups. Our
other aim is to increase the amount of phone INS and the audience interaction
as the show producer/stakeholder wants.
My Breakfast show will be on at 7:30am – 9 am, it will be on
Capital FM and it will be on every day, Monday to Sunday , I will not be
hosting every day as the plan is that I myself Steven Luu will do Monday to
Friday and then my co-host Julian Scott will be doing the weekends so Saturday
and Sunday.
Why listen in to my radio show?
The content I will be producing on my breakfast show will
consist of Latest updates such as road news, weather new, competition, phone

Costs
·
On 18 January 2016, Global added the former Juice FM station
in Liverpool to the network, after approval was given to buy the station from UTV
Media for
£10 million.
What it will cost:
·
As a rule of thumb, radio advertising is charged at a rate
of approximately £2 per thousand listeners at one time. To clarify, if a show
has 100,000 listeners at 10am, then buying a 30-second spot at that time will
cost you £200
How much do stars get
paid:
·
£250,000 - £299,999
·
Zoe Ball - also presents on TV
·
Ken Bruce
Chris Even:
·
Chris Evens £1.6million BBC Radio 2 salary
·
Chris Evens £2 million Virgin Radio salary
Advertising
·
If the ads are on at peak times such as in the morning the
cost would be higher for a 30 second slot for example a 30 second gap is £300
then in 2 mins, we will make £1200
·
After peak times the price would be lower
Demographics
According
to RAJAR ratings, Capital Liverpool dipped as low as 167,000 listeners per week
a year after the re brand and shed market share points in the turmoil. But as of
RAJAR Q2 2019, after significant changes to the initial line-up, the numbers
had recovered to 212,000 reach, with vast improvements in market share and
listening hours to the two years after the rebranding.

Speech – This is the way in which words are spoken, which
can be anything from the pitch and volume of a voice to the accent
·
Music – This can help in setting the mood, tone and setting
of the scene. With radio this becomes more essential due to the lack of visual
cues for the audience.
·
Sound – With no sound, the listener only hear silence. Which
is useful for dramatic effect if used. But if it goes on for too long then the
listener will simply switch off
·
Title
and Credits – This includes the names of cast and people part of production.
The credits will include those that are not seen or heard but is a character or
person involved.
Industry
Requirements
A
industrial requirement for radio is the time that the show is on, must know how
long that time period is another requirement is equipment such as microphone
recorders a studio, special guests, a host and a co-host, music (no copyrighted),
topics to talk about, editing software and a editing team. Broadcasting system,
play back device, recording equipment and a backup drive
Medium (Radio show)
There are
many different type of radio shows for example podcasts, talk shows, music
radio, breakfast shows. Examples would be Capital FM, Radio 1, BBC, the
Archers.
Another
thing about radio is say if it is like a podcast the guests and the host would
probably sit in a circle where it is comfortable for the host as it doesn’t
feel like he has got any pressure on him as it would be like a friendly talk
less formal more relaxed and laid back then a talk show as a talk show the host
is sat by himself on stage and has to answer questions from the crowd which
then it is ,ore formal as he is talking to multiple people not just 1 on 1 so
he has to be respectful to his crowd (viewers) and be careful with what he
says.

Prior
experience
In media
the other product I had made was a lip-sync video on Dancing with a stranger by
Sam smith for this I needed only my phone to record then in lesson we would be
told to edit it so I filmed the clips that I needed and transferred it the
computer in school, and then edited in school using Sony Vegas, besides the
school teaching my Sony Vegas I have already had past experience as I
self-taught myself Sony Vegas on how to edit things also gcse art helped me a
little with editing , with my end result of the music video I had got distinction second best in the class , I have
also saw the first best in the class , Liam rimmer It was a well-deserved
Distinction star and I have took in notes for later projects so my work can be
up to that standard
Prior learning
Whilst at
handstand productions I learnt how to edit the audio and visual on Sony Vegas
and how to use different features
The
physical practicalities
would be what time the radio show is on and
how long it lasts, also interviews on the show is practical bringing in special
guests so the radio would be more view also we would need equipment such as,
microphones, recording, editing software, a computers and a studio also how we
would get to the studio or how the guests would get to the studio or how we go
out and interview famous players or the public on a view also we would have to
get a translator if needed
The
financial constraints
would be if I wanted a special guest’s id have
to pay for them to be on the show and they would expensive depending on who it
is, however if we are advertising their products they would come on for free,
also we need to know our budget for the radio as it can limit us on things we
can and can’t do we would need a studio equipment such as a computer and
microphones etc. also the money to go live on a well-known company like bbc 2 ,
a financial constraint could be the 30 second slots as if there are 100,000
listeners at 10 am it would cost us £200 for a 30 second slot.
After
seeing my presentation, I have a few questionnaires for you to fill in, and is
there any questions would you like to ask me?
How I made my radio sample
For
my radio sample the equipment I had or needed was just my phone it is a iPhone
8 plus, I tried to record my voice with the normal camera on my phone but it
picked up a lot of non-diegetic audio so to adapt to this I looked up on
YouTube to find a good recording app which I did, the app I used is called
‘voice recorder’ on the apple store, the app was simple to use I also knew
there was a massive difference between my actual camera and the app I used as
one had a clearer recorder , I also took in consideration of the location
because if I was in the bathroom doing it, it would echo more than in my room
so I filmed it in my room to reduce the echo, after I filmed it I sent all me
audio clip by email and imported them into a editing software I found online as
I didn’t have access to the program I am use to most which is Sony Vegas , I
then edited the clips took out any irrelevant audio such as the mistakes when I
recorded my sample , I then went to find background music that is non
copyrighted and put it in the back of my audio clips but I lowered the volume
so you are able to hear me more and clear then the music in the background , I
then went to find a Capital FM jingle and edited into my clips on my timeline
as Capital FM is where I wasn’t my breakfast show to be on.
Questionnaires
for
my questionnaire I have kept it simple iv asked 5 questions and 4 of the I have
done 5 numbers 1 being bad, 5 being the best.
First
Question on my survey asked ’was the presentation clear?
The
graph above shows the rating of the first question showing, that 2 pupils said
that the presentation was clear, and 3 pupils said that the presentation was
good and clear, but it can be even better.
Second
Question on my survey asked, ‘did it meet with the client brief?’
The
graph above shoed the fee back I got for this question the ones who said 5 said
I have reached all requirements of the client brief however the ones with 4
said I have met with most of the client brief and that I am missing a few
things such as the spider diagrams/mind maps which I have got and will be
adding on to this word document
Third
Question on my survey asked, ‘how was the presenter?’
The
chart above shows the responses I got from the presentation and how myself has
presented 3 out of 5 have said 4 they said I could've been more confident, and
I should add more detail into the presentation as evidence rather than just
saying it so it's on paper
Fourth
question on my survey asked, 'was the presentation good?’
The
chart above represents the pupils I have asked for feedback with a scale of 1
to 5, 1 being the worse and 5 being the best and overall the presentation I
presented was good it contained a lot of content and my audience enjoyed it
75%
of my audience gave my presentation a 4 meaning the presentation was good but
there are room for improvement and the other 25% said basically my presentation
is good no improvement needed.
Conclusion
Overall,
I think my pitch was good it had all the details about my radio show on it. I
have done a lot of research which I then condensed down to make the
presentation which then allowed me to pitch my idea and show that my radio show
can become a reality, as it met with the client brief for example increase the
amount of audience interaction and phone ins . I also showed how my show can be
flexible as there are a lot of different topics for different audiences which
will bring in more listenership such as the younger ones as well as the older
ones
I
think my pitch went well however I did receive some feedback on my pitch, such
as I should be more confident when I pitch as I was a little shaky at the start
, and I can improve that , also on my pitch another feedback I got was I read
of the screen to much when I was pitching I did read of the screen , so next
time when I do pitch a product again I will remember to interact with the
people who I am pitching as it will then show that I have confidence in the
product I am pitching , I feel as if I could do better next time.
